Gameday Central (GDC) is an app published by 2ThumbZ, Inc., dedicated to providing college sports fans with the latest news, analysis, game highlights, pictures, and videos. GDC allows users to personally curate a team-specific feed containing all these features, and more. Vital tidbits such as current weather and traffic reports, as well as official game day media guides are also included. GDC also offers information on upcoming fan and alumni events. The app is fully licensed and supports more than 80 Division 1 NCAA teams and service academies.
WASP partnered with 2ThumbZ to design, build, and market the GDC app to highly targeted consumers and fans of collegiate sports teams. All content curation and collegiate licensing rights for every team was handled by 2ThumbZ. Goals included being featured within the Google Play store, and excess of 100,000 downloads.
With 2ThumbZ’s collegiate licensing agreements and vision, and WASP’s mobile expertise, the GDC app was set to launch. Through a concentrated strategy, WASP ensured that all content associated with the Gameday Central app was inline with Android’s best practices. This contributed to a Google Play store feature for GDC not once, but on three separate occasions. WASP consistently worked with 2ThumbZ to update the app with user-friendly features such as a push notifications service and an administrative interface for configuring team data. Additionally, more licensed products and content was secured by 2ThumbZ including team specific ringtones and smartphone wallpapers, all available from the app. These efforts have resulted in more than 400,000 downloads to date, and over 400 5-star ratings in the Google Play store.
